Teeswater Sheep
Teeswater, a conservation breed, are named for the river Tees in England, and while they never made pure-bred entry into the U.S. up to 96% Teeswwater have been bred here using upbreeding.
The fiber is known for its length, its luster, and its shine with locks that hang separately (prized for lock-spinning and low spun worsted). The avg. fleece weight is 12-15 lbs (3.4 – 8.2 kgs), with a staple length of ~6 inches (15 cm) and a fiber diameter of 30-36 microns.
