Jacob Sheep

Jacob sheep, introduced in the United States in the early 1900s, are a rare heritage breed whose origins are unknown but have been traced through Northern Africa, Sicily, Spain, and England. They are often spotted (a.k.a. pied) with 2 to 6 horns, and single coated, a unique trait in primitive breeds since most are dual coated.

The fleece, varying in crimp and fineness, is free of kemp (brittle hairs) and is light, soft, springy and open with little lanolin (~30 microns, 5″ staple/yr, 5lb-fleece/yr).
