Alpaca

Indigenous to the Andes Mountains of South America alpaca are not as well known as their cousins the llama and camel. Alpaca fiber is recognized globally for its fineness, softness, light-weight, durability, excellent thermal qualities, and luster. Unlike Sheep’s wool, alpaca fleece contains no lanolin and is ready to spin with nominal cleaning. Prized for its unique silky feel and “handle,” alpaca fleece is highly sought-after by both cottage-industry artists as well as the commercial fashion industry.
