CVM/Romeldale

CVM/Romeldales are an American breed. Romeldales were first developed in the early 1900s in California by A.T. Spencer. It was his intention to increase both the meat and wool qualities of his flock. While Romeldales are white, CVMs are the many-colored version of this same breed often distinguished by their ‘badger face’. (note CVM stands for California Variegated Mutant)

The fleece from CVM/Romeldales is bright, crisp, and dense with staple lengths ~3-4 inches, micron count in the low 20’s and they produce from 6-12 lb-fleece/year. Fiber artists love this fiber for its ‘next-to-skin’ softness and uniformity.
