The Yellowfarm

My husband and I live on an old historic, 65-acre farm where we have a small flock of purebred and high percentage registered Wensleydale and Teeswater sheep. I fell in love with these rare breeds because of their amazing lustrous curly locks, and Rastafarian look. Spinning and knitting with these gorgeous curls is unbelievably inspiring. I coat my sheep and the fiber they produce is so beautiful, that much of the time I can spin it raw or lightly rinsed. I love watching each unique curly piece spin into a one of a kind lockspun or corespun yarn. The silky feel and sheen remains even after washing or dyeing. I guess it is fair to say that I am addicted to locks, whether weaving them, spinning them, or knitting them directly into your work. Be forewarned, you may become addicted to this fiber too!
