Virtual Visits to Windsong Farm and Laughing Goat Fiber Farm, Dec 5, 2020
The first LocalFiber Virtual Farm + Studio Visit in our December series is in the books! On December 5, 2020 natural fiber farmers, artists, and enthusiasts met online to watch farm tours and presentations from Karen Stern (Windsong Farm, windsongfarm.com) and Lisa Ferguson (Laughing Goat Fiber Farm, laughinggoatfiber.com). Attendees learned about Cashmere and Angora Goats, Wensleydale and Teeswater Sheep, and Alpacas.
Conversations after the tours focused on husbandry and fiber. Topics ranged from sheep and goat genetics to pasture care to the history of breed lines in the United States, as well as discussion about the impact of COVID-19 on fiber producers. Each presentation concluded with a peek at fiber products currently available and how to purchase them.
