LocalFiber,  Research,  SARE(ONE18-321),  SupplyChain

What is LocalFiber – Part 1: Creating Community-Based Solutions in the Finger Lakes and CNY Animal Fiber Supply Chain.

In March of 2018, together with the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, LocalFiber was awarded a NESARE Partnership Grant (ONE18-321). The goal of this grant gets at the core of LocalFiber’s mission — To Collectively Identify and Address Supply Chain Challenges in the Finger Lakes and CNY Region’s Animal Fiber Community.

Part of this project involves sharing our experiences, successes, and failures with a larger audience so that others may learn alongside us as we make this journey of working together, from the bottom up, to build a stronger local fiber economy and community.

We’d love this to be a conversation to encourage the flow of ideas and encouragement. So, follow us and comment. We look forward to traveling this fiber journey with you!

The CT Sheep Breeders Assn. is looking for someone to produce our “CT Blanket” in a more timely basis. We pool our wool in June and for three years have not been able to get our blankets back before January. There seems to be a snag at the spinnery (Baseball contract). Do you or anyone have any recommendations?
