In this one day workshop students will hand dye one yard of silk chiffon using an ice dye technique. Ice dyeing allows the colored dye molecules to separate and hit the fabric at different times creating a marbleized pattern. Next they
will learn to Nunofelt using a silk chiffon base and merino wool. Students will create a small nunofelted sample that can then be used as a quilt square, decorative piece of art, or even wearable art. Fee must be paid in full prior to Saturday, March 16.

Shannah Warwick is a fashion designer and teacher specializing in Nunofelting and Hand Dye techniques. She works from her home studio in Upstate NY and teaches both locally and throughout Pennsylvania. Her work can be found online under the name BlckBts and in shops in Philadelphia and New York City. She strives to utilize sustainable practices in her studio and has a zero waste policy for all of her materials. Her teaching philosophy is that students should leave her classroom with enough knowledge to go out explore each technique on their own. While in the classroom students are given creative freedom and there is always room to play. Shannah gives each student access to her personal email for any questions that may come up after her initial instruction.
